Heart Coherence

What is heart coherence?

Heart coherence, as defined by HeartMath, is “a high performance and healthy state — physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually— that brings out the very best in us.” It is a state where the heart, brain, and body are balanced and synchronized.

When we are in coherence, we feel calm, focused, clear-headed and able to adapt to our environment. Coherence also helps to reduce mental and emotional stress, and opens us to feelings of security and stability in our everyday life.

How does heart coherence work?

One way to elicit a state of heart coherence is through meditation. Heart coherence meditations are simple, powerful tools that are designed to generate a state of harmony and balance between our heart, mind and emotions.

By placing our hands over our heart and visualizing this area in the center of our chest, and taking a few deep breaths, we begin to elicit a relaxation response. We begin to feel more at ease, the mind becomes quiet, and the heart, brain, and body begin to align in harmony and coherence.

I use heart coherence guided meditations during sessions with my clients, and provide guided videos to use in between sessions for maximum benefit.

Many of my clients like to end their session with heart coherence so they feel calm, focused, and connected as they transition back into their day.
